Going by the problems on my mk1 1.6, the front heated windscreen not working fully is quite common (i believe due to the wiper motors damaging the connection) The central locking only half works, unless it's a warm day, and the dashboard boot button doesn't work most of the time

There was a fault with Ford Focus instrument clusters on certain ages of car, and after the problem was featured on the BBC Watchdog programme some time in 2008 (I think), Ford eventually offered a deal whereby dealers would replace the instrument cluster for £99 inclusive of parts and labour. My mk1.5 1.6 petrol was flawless until it hit the 100k mark, and then it developed every common problems all at once. The mk1.5 is generally better than the mk1, but the common weak points for pfhGVC0.
